Paddling Symposium canceled due to insufficient interest

Paddle Canada has decided to cancel the Atlantic Paddling Symposium due to insufficient levels of interest in the event relative to the financial support being provided by provincial and national paddling associations. The decision was made after several attempts to increase registrations including individual calls to local paddlers from committee members. Local interest in the event simply does not warrant the expenditure of revenue (membership revenue) from organizations including Canoe Kayak New Brunswick, Canoe Kayak Nova Scotia and Paddle Canada for the exclusive benefit of a relatively small group. We thank all coaches, sponsors and registrants for their interest in this year’s and previous year’s symposiums.

Paddle Canada started the symposium in 2006 as a way to bring together the paddling community to learn and share from each other’s experiences. Since that time, symposium attendance has been anywhere from 30 individual attendees to 140 depending on the location. Typical attendance has been around 40 registrants. The symposium has accomplished its aims and objectives for several years.

A big thank you to all of you who attended the event in the past. We hope to see you all out on the water soon.
